A book that deserved a world of its own.
Wendy had written a book, and it was deeply personal: a walk through a day at Villa Tulsi, her home restaurant with the garden she shaped with her own hands, and at the same time a cookbook of high-end plant-based cuisine and a view through Wendy's soul. She wanted the launch to be everything the book deserved, an event that would show who she really is, and she reached out to Fairy in Boots together with decorator Madam Memwaar, who dressed the garden in the fairytale aesthetic. Her wish was clear from the very first conversation: wonder, warmth and beauty, from the first step into the front garden to the last note of the evening.
One journey, and the day itself became a song.
One continuous journey through the garden, where the surprise starts before the front door and the day slowly becomes a song. Literally, in fact, because the finale would be built from the words the guests themselves had written during the afternoon. The biggest challenge was also the most beautiful one: Wendy had always dreamed of aerial acrobatics, and a garden offers the sky instead of a ceiling. So we brought our own.
Concretely.
- A freestanding rig suspended our Ariel Moon, a crescent moon with an aerial acrobat building spectacular moments high above the lawn of the front garden, right where every guest would pass
- Live harp music floating through the speakers, pulling people gently towards the villa before they could even see where the sound came from
- Deeper in, our fairylike harpist played between the flowers, the drapery and the decorations of Madam Memwaar, welcoming everyone into Wendy's wonderland
- Ten stands inside invited the visitors to create, arrange and wander, and at one of them our artist drew their portraits, with a personal conversation as the loveliest side effect
- Two fairytale figures, an elf with wings and an elf with a basket, glided through it all as hosts and guides
- The wings became a living guestbook: visitors wrote their messages and memories of the day on little cards and hung them with care, keepsakes that would return at the end of the evening
A fairytale in a garden.
From the street, an ordinary front garden in Flanders, and only the welcome sign with the words Villa Tulsi hints at what waits behind the door. It had rained all week, across the whole region, but on this day the sky held its breath just for her. You step inside and there, in the middle of the garden, hangs a moon with a dancer on it, while harp music pulls you gently towards the villa and the hidden garden beyond. You wander past the harpist, through the draped veils, into a world where a book is being born and everyone in it becomes part of the story. You have your portrait drawn. You write a card for Wendy and hang it on the wings of the elf. And at the end of the evening, when Jean Bosco Safari, the word artist and star musician of the event, gathers every single message and, live on the spot, turns them into a song for Wendy, you understand that some moments you simply have to let happen to you. How beautiful can that be.
